A Little About Me...
I Love my Awtrey family! As a school counselor I enjoy helping students and their families. When I am at home, I enjoy working out and spending time with my family. My husband is a Lieutenant with Cobb County PD. We have 2 daughters; both girls attend a Cobb elementary school.
I graduated from State University of West Georgia with a BA in Political Science. I also earned a Master of Counseling and my Specialist in School Counseling also at the State University of West Georgia.
I have 19 years of service in education, 16 of which have been here at Awtrey Middle School.
I LEAD at Awtrey by supporting students, parents and teachers.
Connie Plunkett-Thompson, MEd, EdS, LPC
Serve 8th graders and 7th grade students whose last name begins with the letters M through Z.
A Little About Me...
I am excited to be a new member of the Awtrey Family. (I attended Awtrey Middle as a student in the early 80's so I guess I have been a member of the family for a while.) I have more than 23 years counseling students and young adults. I have worked in both the high school and middle school settings.
I graduated from Kennesaw State University with BS in Middle Grades Education. I earned with a my Masters in counseling. I went on to complete my Specialist in Education for Educational Leadership.
I am married with 2 awesome kiddos. My daughter is a sophomore at KMHS (Go Mustangs!) and loves volleyball. My son is 13 and loves Godzilla movies.
I LEAD at Awtrey by being a team member and working closely with students, parents and teachers.
How to Make an Appointment with your Counselor
Awtrey counselors have offices in the grade level areas where students have the greatest access to services.
-
Students that would like to meet with a counselor may stop by during class change, ask a teacher to email the counselor, complete a "request to see a counselor" form and leave it under the counselor's door.
-
Parents that would like to speak to a counselor may email or call the counselor. Many times, email is the fastest way to make a connection.
-
We ask that conferences and meetings begin after 9:45 and before 3:00. We have various responsibilities around the school and we want to be able to give parents and students our complete attention.
